Increase Your H2 IQ With Key Terms
By: GenH2 Staff
Read Time: 2 minutes

As we move towards a greener world, hydrogen is emerging as the frontrunner in the world of renewable energy. However, despite all the news surrounding hydrogen, there is a lack of public education about its properties, processes, and the significant role it will play in the future of advanced clean energy. Gaining insight into key buzzwords and the usefulness of this energy carrier will not only improve public perception but will ensure alternative energy sources like hydrogen will continue to steadily move us towards a carbon-neutral future.

Grasping the advantages of hydrogen allows us to better see how it can be used in our day-to-day lives. Additionally, being aware of proper hydrogen terminology and its meanings is essential to educate others on its benefits. This understanding can help newcomers learn about the clean energy industry while aiding established players in recognizing how hydrogen can be applied to their projects.

Learning industry-specific terms is also essential to differentiate between words that may have similar meanings at first glimpse, but slightly different contexts when applied to real-world applications. For instance, words such as “Transfer,” “Dispensing,” and “Filling” may seem interchangeable but have specific definitions in the hydrogen industry. Transfer refers to the movement of hydrogen between any two systems, while Dispensing describes the process of moving it into an end-use system and Filling refers to the active accumulation of the dispensed hydrogen for an end use such as a car or truck. Recognizing the differences between these applications allows for more accurate and effective communication when discussing industry-related uses.

The key terminology used within the hydrogen industry is critical for those looking to become more knowledgeable on clean energy options, processes, and uses. To help with this, GenH2 has created a comprehensive eBook that provides a short reference guide with typical buzzwords for essential terms used in the hydrogen economy. GenH2 has created a Hydrogen A-Z eBook with a short introduction of keywords to help readers become better acquainted with the molecule and the industry. If you want a deeper understanding of these keywords, visit the GenH2 blog page and select the A-Z series by clicking the tab featuring these articles.
