Key Takeaways from the Hydrogen Shot Summit

Hydrogen A-Z Series
By: GenH2 Staff
Read Time: 2 minutes

This week, the historical event of the Energy EarthShots, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Hydrogen Shot Summit was held to launch the ambitious goal of achieving the “1 1 1” goal of $1 for 1 kg of clean hydrogen in 1 decade. GenH2 representatives joined the more than 4,000 attendees across the world, in this important Hydrogen Economy event kick-off, led by Department of Energy, Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office.

The importance of this Historical event was validated by the level of Plenary speakers throughout the two-day affair. The Summit showcased Hydrogen technologies as being critical and key to meeting the goals of a Cleaner Economy in the next decade. And though there will be challenges to face, we were reminded in multiple sessions of a powerful quote from President John F. Kennedy in reference to going to the moon in a decade, “not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills”. The U.S. and global Hydrogen technologies community is positioned to rise to the challenges of deploying and addressing the “1 1 1” goal through innovation and collaboration.

The breakout panel sessions in Electrolysis, Thermal Conversions with Carbon Capture and Storage, Advanced Pathways and Deployment and Financing, provided sessions on various clean hydrogen production pathways as well as deployment and financing to help identify key challenges and potential strategies to address them. Speakers and panelists included leaders from DOE, National Labs, Industry, Academia, Tribal communities, financial sector, non-profits, and social and environmental justice groups, provided attendees with very diverse and unique perspectives of information.

The three important takeaways of this Summit were:

  1. Collaboration
  2. Importance of scaling of technologies and
  3. Reaching an Historical event; continue the momentum.

Companies like GenH2 stand out in innovative approaches with our advanced Liquid Hydrogen infrastructure solutions in cleaner hydrogen liquefaction, controlled storage of liquefied hydrogen, and dispensing. Our mission aligns well with the Summit takeaways as we collaborate to bring innovative solutions and scaling for modularity as we work towards helping reach the “1 1 1” ambitious goal.
